Katie Smith loves working with computers and is always learning about the field.  Mrs. Smith enjoys that working with computers frequently involves solving puzzles, and even mysteries. She is thrilled to be teaching Computer Science for the Online program here at John Adams Academy and to share that joy with scholars.  In addition to teaching, Mrs. Smith is the IT Specialist for the Online program, managing scholar and teacher laptops and software, administering the Canvas system, and providing technical support. She earned a BS in Business- Management Information Systems from Cal State Long Beach. 

Mrs. Smith first joined the John Adams Academy family as a parent of enrolled scholars in 2012.  Prior to joining the staff of JAA-Online, Mrs. Smith had experience working in the healthcare IT sector. As a Systems Engineer and Interface Architect, she programmed interfaces that sent data between hospital systems, as well as configured software, provided training and worked with speech recognition engines in the days before Siri.  

Her family has adopted the Ten Core Values into their home life as well as their school and work life. She loves exploring the Great Ideas and has a love of classical literature, Math and Science. 

She believes the Academy is a blessing and looks forward to getting to know our online scholars and families.
