Jennifer Hobbs

Secondary Science

Jennifer Hobbs has loved science since she was little and plagued her family with questions about everything. Even in Kindergarten she enjoyed teaching her peers and was sometimes allowed to lead reading groups. She tutored other students in high school and college and taught swimming to children while studying for her bachelor’s degrees in environmental studies and geography at the University of California at Santa Barbara. However, she didn’t realize that teaching was her passion until she grew tired of her environmental science career and was looking for something that would benefit society and be fulfilling.

Mrs. Hobbs earned a Clear Single Subject Science Teaching Credential with an emphasis in Earth Science while teaching science to middle school students in California. Additionally, she earned a Master of Arts in Educational Technology from California State University, Sacramento.

When Mrs. Hobbs is not busy asking questions and exploring scientific phenomena with her scholars, she loves going on adventures with her son and her husband. As a family, they love to travel and see new things. Sometimes, she is even able to convince them to visit science museums and botanical gardens. Her family also assists in filming experiments for scholars. Mrs. Hobbs’ favorite scientists are Albert Einstein and Émilie du Châtelet. She is also quite fond of Galileo Galilei and Archimedes.

She is excited to accompany scholars and families on their journey of American Classical Leadership Education through Science.
