Hannah Mitchell

Secondary Art

Hannah Mitchell mentors Secondary scholars in the online program.  Prior to John Adams Academy – Online, Ms. Mitchell taught art for junior high and high school students in Utah.

Coming from an artistic family, Hannah Mitchell was encouraged by her parents and given many opportunities to develop an appreciation for art and experiment with many mediums. She seeks to provide this same encouragement to her scholars.  Portraiture, animals, and landscape are often her subject matter. From her childhood, growing up on a dairy farm, she was filled with the light and wonder of Mother Nature’s beauties, blossoming her desire to create. She attended Brigham Young University Idaho, graduating with a degree in Art Education. While studying at BYUI, she found her medium of choice, oil paint, and her passion for painting Landscape with Quaking Aspen trees. One of the things Ms. Mitchell loves about Aspens is that they all have their own characteristics that make them unique. Ms. Mitchell compares Aspens to people on life's journey in which, life’s experiences and challenges shape and help us to grow.  She points out that people tend to think of creation as something that happens in the beginning, but creation is a process that is ongoing.

Ms. Mitchell looks forward to mentoring JAA-online scholars on their journey to find their passion and in the pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful in life and in art.

Examples of her art can be found in the illustration of “The Big Red Bike” by E.J. Tims and the display of her artwork in Park City Fine Art Gallery in Park City, Utah.
