Colette Rogers

Lower Elementary, Department Specialist

Colette started her journey in the world of education with teaching TK while pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary studies and English Language Learning.  She was introduced to the book “A Thomas Jefferson Education” by Oliver DeMille shortly after having her first child and spent 6 years homeschooling her own children while developing an understanding of the Thomas Jefferson Education model. This same book was an inspiration in the founding of John Adams Academy.

Colette returned to teaching in the public school system in Pennsylvania for about 7 years before moving to California. She was drawn to the American Classical Leadership Education® model and 10 Core Values of John Adams Academy and joined the team as a first-grade teacher in 2018. After a few years in the classrooms at JAA, she transitioned to the position of Mentor Teacher which has opened up many opportunities for her to serve and grow.  What began as a basic understanding of a classical education many years ago, has found a place at John Adams Academy to be nurtured and shared.

When Colette is not at the Academy you will find her spending time with her husband, 7 children and grandbaby. She enjoys anything outdoors, learning about other cultures and history, reading lots of books, creating art and cultivating friendships.
